During my last year at MassArt, I created this painting. It was the closest I have ever felt to my real self. After a tedious years of perspective, observation, and life model drawing, I decided to break away.
It is the raw energy of lines, intuitive nature, crudeness, and mystery of creation that I love. Heroes like Ralph Bakshi and Raymond Pettibon have inspired me to just be myself. It takes courage to be oneself - to stand without perfection and have no fancy frame to hide behind or make you appear better. Truth, real feelings, acting on a whim - this is the real me! |
